The
car in question is a 1982 unregistered Ford Cortina 2.0L GLS,
with only 82 miles on the clock!
The car belonged to the TC Harrison Group which has a number of Ford dealerships up and down the country. The vehicle was sent direct from the factory to TC Harrison Group in 1982 with no fluids and had been dry stored for 23 years. The car sold at the end of 2005 for £9,995 to a private collector in Scotland. |

Matthew has some fond memories of the great
car...
I remember the day in 1982/83 when my Dad arrived home with a shiny Cortina 2.0 Ghia S. It had spotlights, alloy wheels, a push button radio cassette and plush interior! To an emerging 8 year old car fanatic this was great! especially compared to the old beige 1.3 Escort estate that the Cortina replaced. The car was an 1981 model (I think!) so it still had the A-frame headrestraints with padded inserts (it was just prior to the final modifications made to the Ghia model). Looking back now, It was a lovely car and I too aim to get a good one - preferably a 2.3 ghia S - but that would take some serching for Im sure. Eventually my Dad sold the car to replace it with a Sierra 1.8L (in 1986 I think). The last time I saw the car was about 10 years ago, looking forlorne with a blue bootlid from a 1.6L - What a shame. I wonder what became of it? ed: Do you know what happened to XHG 898 V? Is it still on the road, let us know if you see it. |
